Booty Win – Info & Help
“Booty Win”
(a.k.a. “Booty Call”)
by ~Lantian/Flox~
* Now Available with Rum -or- Sarrrsaparilla Soda *
v.4.3
This attractive, pirate-themed game is designed to give a prize, while keeping people entertained in a space for some time. You supply the prize, we supply the distraction! The game requires 5 people to sit on various crates and barrels around a pile of treasure. Only when all are seated will the game deliver a prize to all… or most! ;-) In -this- game, there is a very slight chance that a pirate may “loot” players and steal their prize! (This setting can be turned off by the owner.)
HOW TO USE:
1.) REZ & MOVE.
Rez the Booty Win where
people can see it. The side with the sign is the front. Shift the game
slightly downward, so that the bottom of the front sign touches the
floor. (The gold should actually be partly beneath the floor, for best
effect.)
-> Attention: Every time you Rez or Reset the Booty
Win, it will look for a Prize (and Texture) inside itself, then read the
Admins notecard to see who is authorized to use its menu.
2.) PRIZE.
Right-click Edit the Booty Win and go
to the Content tab. Delete the “Test Prize!” and drag another object
inside to become the Prize. The Prize must be copy -and- transfer to
YOU, not necessarily to the recipients. The Booty Win will check the
perms to make sure.
-> The Booty Win will always give out the first object, and ONLY the first object, in its Contents!
3.) PICTURE.
(Optional) Drag a picture of the
Prize into the Booty Win’s Content tab. It must be full perm. The
picture will appear on the sign at the front of the Booty Win.
4.) ADMINS.
(Optional) Copy/Paste a list of
Admins (ie, people allowed to use the menu) into the “Admins” notecard.
You can enter either names or UUIDs (keys). If someone has no last name,
it is best to put Resident (but the script will attempt to find them,
regardless). Also, you may use either a dot or space between names. When
finished, please click the Booty Win and choose “Load Admins” from the
menu. The Booty Win will then read the notecard and set up your list of
authorized Admins.
5.) SETTINGS.
(Optional) Change any settings you
want, such as tell it to be Group Only (off by default), or not to
Notify you of all winners (on by default), or to turn off the Loot
feature (on by default). (See FAQ for Loot info.)
-> There is a full list of default settings below.
6.) ENABLE ~L/FX~EXPERIENCE.
(Optional but Recommended!) If you enable “~L/Fx~ Experience” on your land, it will be easier for people to attach rum!
-> PLEASE READ !! “~L/Fx~ Experience” Info & How To: https://flox.monster/lfx-experience/

FAQ:
Q: How do I change the Prize?
A: Delete the first object (and optional texture) inside the Booty Win. Then put in a new one.
Q: Can I resize Booty Win?
A: Yes but only a little. If you do, people will not be sitting properly on top of things.
Q: Can I link Booty Win to other things?
A: The short answer is
NO! The long answer is, it will probably work, if you reset it after
linking, but I have not tested it well. So keep a backup copy, and do so
at your own risk!
Q: How do I add (or remove) Admins?
A: Simply add (or remove)
their names or UUIDs from the “Admins” notecard inside Booty Win. Then
click Booty Win and choose “Load Admins” from the menu. Booty Win will
then read the notecard and update the list of Admins. (NOTE: please read
local chat while it does so, to make sure there are no errors. If Booty
Win cannot find the UUID to match a name on your card, it will say so
in local. It needs the UUID to work correctly.)
Q: What does it mean to “Loot?”
A: If Looting is turned on, there
is a 5% chance that any given sitter may lose his/her prize. Instead,
the game will say that the individual prize has been, quote, “looted by
Notorious Pirate Nine-Tail Jack.” (Note: there is a 5% chance for
-every- sitter, so theoretically there could be more than one looting
per round.)
Q: Where is my Prize/texture? I added one, but the Booty Win did not find it.
A:
Please make sure you add these to the Content tab of the Booty Win’s
ROOT prim, ie, the main part of it. Do not add anything to the child
prims or links.
Q: Do I drag the texture onto the front sign, or into the Booty Win?
A: Please place the Prize Texture inside the Content tab of the Booty Win’s root prim--that is, the main part.
Q: Can I add multiple Prizes to the Booty Win?
A: No. At this
time, the Booty Win will only give out the first object inside its
Contents. If there are requests, though, I may add future options!
Q: I can’t see the messages that the Booty Win speaks to me.
A:
The Booty Win speaks some messages using the script function
“llRegionSayTo” (which is faster and less laggy than instant messages).
For some reason, though, the default color for that seems to be fugly
dark orange. That color is nearly impossible to see. The good news is,
however, you can change the color in Second Life Preferences! Open Preferences with
Ctrl+P, Go to “Colors” and change “Direct” to something pleasant like
light blue.
Q: My Booty Win is stuck in Standby Mode. HELP!
A: If it is in
Standby Mode, that means it probably does not have a valid Prize inside.
Please make sure there is a prize in the Content tab that is Copy and
Transfer to YOU (not necessarily to the recipients). Rarely, it may also
go to Standby if it encounters an unusual error. Please click it to
restart the script, and watch local chat to see if it speaks any errors
while it starts up. (It will probably tell you how to fix itself… that’s
how I script things.)
Q: My Booty Win keeps saying "There is no Admins notecard!" What does this mean?
A: That means you deleted the "Admins" notecard from inside it. Therefore, the Booty Win keeps looking for--and not finding--that notecard. It is trying to identify who your admins are. Because it will keep checking (and pestering you!), you should just put a notecard inside called "Admins"... even if it's blank.
Q: When I got my Booty Win, there's a name on my Admins notecard called 'Wyvern Dryke." Who's that? Do I have to keep that?
A: That is ME, the creator. And no, you do NOT have to keep me on there. However, if you do have problems, or need help setting up your Booty Win, having me as an Admin makes it easy to see what's going on. Others can attest, I am a decent fellow and do not usually go around wreaking havok. :)
UPDATES:
v.4.3
* Split scripts into 2 functions: menu vs. sitting/animations. This will make it easier to add more menu and gift functions, plus more animations, in the future.
* Moved animations themselves away from main root prim, so they don't get accidentally deleted.
* Also created PG-rated version with "Sarrrsaparilla" Soda instead of Rum, since the Rum was making the Booty Win flagged on Marketplace as "Moderate" rather than rated "General" (PG). (Customers were complaining they could not find it in search.)
v.4.0
* Animations are present. Now a single script controls all sit targets, animations and permissions... as well as regular prize functions.
* Sits now change colors when sat upon, then go back to regular when players stand up
* Booty Win now has a 10-second "cool down" period between wins. (This is to discourage the script from re-animating folks who have already tried to run away! ... Long story. SL is a cruel mistress.)
* The menu now re-offers itself repeatedly (by request).
* Some other minor tweaks and improvements, bug squashes and foxy snarling.
Q: How do I get support?
A: Contact me, Wyvern Dryke, in Second Life.
